A source close to the Crispin Porter + Bogusky advertising agency said that Microsoft hired well known comedian Jerry Seinfeld for a new advertising campaign as a response to the Mac vs. PC commercials. In the ad Seinfeld will appear alongside Bill Gates to try and convince the public that Windows Vista is easier to use than Apple's Mac OS.
The ads will start airing on September 4th, and they will feature the "Windows, Not Walls" slogan. Filming locations for the commercials included Prospect Park, Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Public Library. The director, Michel Gondry was also the director of "The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", staring Jim Carrey.
The advertising agency behind the new ads is the same one that helped Burger King exponentially increase their business. The total cost of the campaign is at around $300 million, of which $10 million represent Seinfeld's share.
Microsoft has made another effort to change the public's perception of Windows Vista with the Windows Mojave experiment, a rebranding of the Windows Vista operating system to change the perception of people that rated Windows Vista poorley. |
