Microsoft Disguises Vista For Consumer Experiment

Windows MojaveUnder the name "The Mojave Experiment", Microsoft has rebranded the Windows Vista operating system as "Windows Mojave" and has shown it to over 120 computers users who have rated Windows Vista under 5 points, on a scale from 1 to 10.

Microsoft suspected that these Mac, Linux and Windows users have never used Windows Vista before, despite them badmouthing the operating system. The respondents were given a demonstration of the so-called Windows Mojave by a computer salesperson. At the end of the demonstration, the respondents were asked to rate the new operating system, and the average rating increased from 4.4 to 8.5 out of 10.

After Microsoft revealed to the 120 participants that Windows Mojave is in fact Windows Vista, reactions such as "It's totally different than I had heard" and "I'd give it a 10" were recorded and put as video clips at MojaveExperiment.com.

Microsoft said the experiment was conducted to raise the awarness of regular people who've never used Windows Vista but are judging it based on word of mouth.

The fictional operating system was named after the Mojave Desert in the Western United States where various experiments are being made by scientists and institutions such as NASA.

It should be noted, however, that there is no indication of what specs they are using on the computer it’s running on (for as we all know, one of the biggest negative aspects of Vista is that it’s a memory hog) and most of the users previewed are not “power users” by any means and appear to be the same kind of person I help troubleshoot computer problems by suggesting they plug their computer. Furthermore, there are no videos posted of a power user that realizes right off the bat that it’s practically Vista and laughs about how Microsoft fails on an epic scale for trying to pass Vista off as a brand new operating system – until they are made aware that it’s just a bad press experiment and now feel the need to seriously question why Microsoft doesn’t just throw in the towel and make a worthwhile operating system instead of trying to convert a bunch of, quote, “noobs”.

Vista is Vista is Vista....that os may have had good intentions but it takes you much longer to perform basic tasks as with xp. For myself I am moving to Mepis after microsoft no longer supports xp

RETRACTION: it shows the specs on one of the links, but at the same time there is no indication of whether or not it's a stock install or modified, so 2 GB of memory (which is usually the bare minimum for stock installations) could do fine with a modified install.
