Google users across the United States will be welcomed by a different homepage today, one that uses a black background. This gesture is made in recognition of Earth Hour which takes place on March 29, 2008 and invites people from all around the world to turn off their lights for one hour, 8pm to 9pm. Big cities around the world, including Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco, Melbourne and Tel Aviv have organized events to show their commitment for energy conservation, but everyone is invited to turn off the lights, anywhere in the world.
