MSN login problem solved

Microsoft confirmed Friday that it fixed a glitch that caused brief outages for some of its MSN services. A company spokeswoman said the problems were resolved Thursday afternoon PST and that no complications have been reported since.

The problems began Thursday morning, when some users discovered that they were unable to log into popular services, such as Hotmail and MSN Messenger. The software giant denied that the glitch stemmed from its Passport authentication and password software, which lets people log in and manage Web services from MSN and other third-party sites.

I still get login error of there is an underscore in the Username. Created new account w/o underscore and login OK.

Can't login to Hotmail. Have a new laptop and running Vista Premium, IE 7.0.6 - now I had no problem logging into Hotmail over the past few weeks. Then a few days ago it was no go. Works fine with Mozilla Firefox, however. The message I am getting:
Windows Live ID is unavailable from this site for one of the following reasons:
This site may be experiencing a problem.
The site may not be a member of Windows Live ID.
You can:

So, any advice?? Pretty frustrating.

i tried signing in through:

http://www.live.com/

then i clicked sign-in the top left corner. Once the page loaded, click on windows live.

Let me know if it works for you.

Haven't been able to use my hotmail or msn account for over a month now. At first I couldn't log into Facebook or Hi5, but couple weeks back I was able to.

Tried entering my information in the forgot password screen, not accepting it. Reset my password, but instead of sending the reset link to my alternate email address it's sending it to the hotmail address.

I really need help, to at least get all my msn contacts.

I am having difficulties signing in to my hotmail account too and get the same message as above. So much for hotmail fixing it. I have deleted my temp int files and my cookies but still no joy. It seems to be intermittent - surely there must be a fix for this?!

I gave up trying to use hotmail on internet explorer - virtually every time it gave me the same message even though I'd updated all of my settings etc etc etc. Now I use google chrome and haven't experienced any of these issues - give it a try!

Don't think it's working for Mac users anymore. Mine's the same. It says me login details are wrong when I've set them to automatically sign me in with the same details and it has worked fine up until now.

No luck from my PC or Mac.

It looks as if the home.live site is just unstable. Different .url's keep flashing and then finally that "unavailable" message. I guess we just have to wait until the lights come back on.

Same here. I'm getting the error message for one ID, while the other lets me log in just fine. Fwiw, the non-working address contains an underscore. I cleared the cache, history, et al for both IE and Safari, and I ran CCleaner, but it still won't let me in. :-(

I found this solution on a Microsoft support site: If you have any live.com or hotmail.com URLs in your IE "Trusted Sites" list, remove them! Removing them solved the problem for me.

Any idea how to fix the error when one login works and the other doesn't? That can't be a trusted site issue, I wouldn't think. I've tried on multiple computers, too. Also, when this happenes, how long is the service usually out? Days? Weeks?
